As the team at SimplyCast.com celebrates our country’s birthday, we want to remind you about one of the best sources for coming up with content for your next email marketing campaign or newsletter.
The calendar.
Holidays or historic dates can not only inspire you with content ideas, they are often something your readers can relate to as well.
Of course you should never just limit your creative ideas to the big holidays like Christmas, Easter, Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day.
It can be as simple as writing about your company’s anniversary or an upcoming historical event.
Many of the stories behind these days are very interesting and you can possibly connect them to the core theme of your campaign or newsletter very easily.
Just think of how interested people would of been to read your content if it had anything to do with the election of Barack Obama as President of the United States?
Keep in mind it needs to be relevant to your message or readers will see through the smoke and mirrors and move on.
Large International events like the Super Bowl, the Olympics or the Oscars can also spark ideas for email marketing campaigns or newsletters.
Basically make a list of important dates or events that you, your friends or coworkers are talking about and the chances are good, your readers are doing the same thing.
But before you start matching your campaigns with upcoming holidays, remember to keep in mind to plan ahead.
Don’t email your campaigns or newsletters too close to the actual holiday you are writing about.
During these times, people tend to be away from their computers and not check their email regularly.
This means they may not get your message when they return because of all the other mail that has piled up.
